Often when I have a creative block, it's because I haven't taught myself any new tricks for a while. To remedy this, I’ll pick a random object to recreate as a digital icon. I'll park myself at my computer and start dragging out points and paths until they begin to resemble that object...and then I keep going until I've learned a new trick and created something that usually doesn't vector very well.
I've realized that through this process, I’m often pulling the memory or vibe of a place that I’ve been and loved…sometimes it’s a place of a bygone era, and sometimes it’s one still sparkly and new. Often, it’s a place that's established an entire micro-culture of its own, changing the community around it. They are places that have become iconic in my memory, and representative of something larger than themselves.
So here we have 'em. The Iconic Series. It’s a list that will keep growing with time, so long as I keep itching to learn new tricks and y’all keep creating special places.
